"With Every Hardship Comes Ease"

Counselling and Psychotherapy in Reading & Online

About Me

Hello, I’m Amal — it’s a pleasure to connect with you. My journey into counselling began long before any formal training, during my years working with grassroots charities. In those spaces, I found myself drawn to the human stories behind every struggle — listening deeply, holding space, and walking alongside people through moments of real vulnerability. Over time, I realised that what I was doing wasn’t just support — it was the foundation of therapeutic work. Today, as a counsellor, I bring that same presence and compassion to every session, guided by a belief that meaningful change begins with being truly heard.

I have extensive experience working with a diverse range of clients, providing support to help them navigate challenges such as anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, and self-esteem concerns. I hold a Professional Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling Practice and The Prince’s Trust Diploma Award.

As an accredited member of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS), I adhere to the Society’s code of ethics. Further details can be found on the NCPS website or on their PDF here.

My Approach

I believe that every person is unique, and so are their experiences. My counselling approach is warm, empathetic, and non-judgmental, and tailored to meet your specific needs.

When it comes to finding the right support, it’s important to have a counsellor who truly listens and adapts to your needs.

My approach is based on pluralistic counselling, which means that I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all method. Instead, I work with you to explore different ways of understanding and addressing the challenges you’re facing, using approaches that suit you best.

Whether you’re dealing with personal struggles, relationship difficulties, or simply looking for a space to reflect and grow, I will work alongside you to find an approach that fits. With an open and collaborative style, I’ll ensure that counselling is tailored to who you are and what matters most to you—ensuring that you feel heard and supported at every step of your journey.

Faith-Sensitive Counselling

I also have experience supporting individuals from the Islamic faith, understanding the values that shape everyday life—from spirituality and prayer to family and community. My goal is to provide a safe, welcoming space where you feel comfortable discussing whatever is on your mind, knowing that your beliefs and identity are always respected.

What to Expect

From our very first session, you can expect a safe, calm, confidential, and supportive environment where you can express yourself freely. Together, we'll work towards your goals, exploring your thoughts and feelings, and finding practical solutions to the challenges you're facing.

A Safe and Confidential Space

As a counsellor, I offer a calm and confidential space where you’re free to speak, reflect, or simply be. Every part of you is welcome here—your thoughts, your emotions, your silence. This is your time, held with care, where your story is safe, your voice is valued, your thoughts can exhale, and your story can unfold at your own pace without interruption or judgment.

Exploration of Thoughts and Emotions

Expect to discuss what’s on your mind—whether it’s stress, relationships, trauma, or personal growth. I will work with you through it all, just get in touch and we can discuss your counselling journey.

Guidance, Not Direct Advice

As a counsellor, I won't tell you what to do. Instead, I will work with you collaboratively, supporting you in exploring solutions and perspectives so that you can make informed decisions for yourself.

Tools for Coping and Growth

I aim to provide you with the opportunity to discover empowering techniques that can help you navigate your emotions with confidence, communicate more effectively, and transform negative thoughts into positive, constructive ones.

Processing and Healing

Some sessions may be emotionally intense, but they often lead to deeper understanding and lasting relief. At Amal Counselling Service, healing isn’t rushed—it unfolds gently, with time. We offer a space for reflection, release, and rebuilding. Every story carries weight. You don’t need to have the right words—just arrive.
